Nitric acid

Nitric acid is produced by the oxidation of ammonia. Air oxygen is used for the process of ammonia conversion.

Active substance: nitric acid

Chemical formula: HNO3

Other properties
Corrosive liquid, strong oxidising agent, harmful to living organisms, destroys skin surfaces; its vapours and decomposition products attack the airways.

Field of use
Nitric acid is an important product for the basic chemicals industry. It can be used to manufacture fertilisers, inorganic nitrates, nitrated organic derivatives, varnishes, imitation leather items and explosives. It is an important analytical reagent, oxidising agent and etching agent for industrial printing plates, as well as a solvent and separating agent for the metals industry.

Transport
In line with ADR/RID regulations and according to the safety data sheet.
Nitric acid is transported solely in rail tankers.

Storage
To be stored in a cool, well-ventilated place, protected from potential heat sources and direct sunlight
